Happy hump day, Florida State fans. We’ll try to keep you up on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State is in the market for a quarterback for 2018 and a big name just opened things back up.

On Tuesday night, 5-star Justin Fields announced his decommitment from Penn State, although he said the Nittany Lions would remain among his top schools. Fields, a 6-3, 220-pound prospect from Kennesaw, Georgia is the No. 6 overall prospect for 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the top dual-threat quarterback.

With Fields having decommitted from Penn State, Florida looks to be the team in the lead for his services for the time being. He is a major target however, for FSU. The Seminoles have just four scholarship quarterbacks on the current roster and no commitments at the position for 2018.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU track and field will begin the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Wednesday.
