The Daily Nole — May 24, 2017: FSU Women’s Hoops Adds Maryland Transfer

Lead Story

It’s been an offseason of landing transfers for Florida State’s women’s basketball team. The latest came on Tuesday.

Kiah Gillespie, a Maryland forward, took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce she would be transferring to FSU. Gillespie averaged 4.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore for the Terrapins last season.

Gillespie was set to be a junior and without her degree, will have to sit out the 2017-18 season. TCU guard A.J. Alix transferred to FSU earlier this offseason and will be eligible to play immediately.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

Aziz Dougaz will compete in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championships in Athens, Georgia. FSU baseball will take on Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament at 11 a.m. EST in a contest that airs on Raycom Sports Network.

News and Notes

Drew Parrish will get the start for FSU against Notre Dame on Wednesday.

4-star linebacker Amari Gainer will choose between FSU, Miami, Texas and Alabama on Saturday.

The start of FSU’s contest with Notre Dame has been pushed back to 1 p.m. EST due to weather.

4-star guard M.J. Walker announced his commitment to Florida State on Wednesday morning.

FSU opened the ACC Tournament on Wednesday with a 5-3 win over Notre Dame on a 12th inning walk-off home run from Jackson Lueck.
