Happy Cinco de Mayo, Florida State fans. For those of you wrapping up your work week, we’ll try to help you get through it. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

After leading Florida State to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in five years, head basketball coach Leonard Hamilton was rewarded with a contract extension through the 2019-20 season.

The agreement serves as a 1-year extension for the 2-time ACC Coach of the Year and the winngest coach in FSU basketball history. This past season, the Seminoles fell one win shy of equaling a single-season school-record.

“I am pleased with the confidence that (athletic director) Stan (Wilcox) and President (John) Thrasher have shown in my staff and me,” said Hamilton in a release. “The support our program has received in recent years has been a significant part of our success. I am looking forward to building on it next year and in future years.”
