Lead Story

During a time when not much has been going right for Florida State on the baseball diamond, FSU announced more bad news on Saturday.

Freshman infielder Tyler Daughtry has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ACL tear in his right knee, suffered last week. Daughtry had appeared in 32 of FSU’s 36 games, which included 24 starts.

For the season, Daughtry was hitting .209 with one home run and 13 RBIs. Despite pedestrian batting numbers, Daughtry’s on-base percentage was over .400.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s golf finished second at the ACC Championships, which concluded Saturday. FSU beach volleyball defeated Grand Canyon and Florida International each 3-2, but lost to Pepperdine, 4-1. FSU softball defeated South Carolina, 3-1. FSU men’s tennis won at N.C. State, 5-2. Seth Beer’s 2-run single in the ninth inning lifted Clemson past FSU baseball on Saturday, 12-10.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis will host Clemson. The FSU baseball team continues its series with Clemson at 2 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU freshman infielder Drew Mendoza currently has the longest hitting streak on the team at seven games.

FSU baseball snapped its 4-game losing streak with a 7-3 win over Clemson on Sunday.

FSU volleyball will be the top seed in the CCSA Conference Tournament, which begins on Friday in Lakepoint, Georgia.
