It’s Thursday and that means we’re just two days away from the Florida State spring football game. Before that takes place, we’ll get you up on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the way.

Lead Story

Florida State’s baseball season is more than halfway over and not surprisingly, we’re starting to get NCAA Tournament projections. Both Baseball America and D1Baseball.com have the Seminoles in their projected field of 64 as a No. 2 seed.

Baseball America in a piece published Wednesday has the Seminoles as the second seed in the Auburn Regional, along with the top-seeded Tigers, No. 3 Oregon and fourth-seeded Alabama State. D1Baseball.com in a projection released Thursday also has FSU headed to SEC country, but to Columbia for a regional that includes No. 6 national seed and the regional’s top seed, South Carolina, third-seeded Old Dominion and fourth-seeded Liberty.

After consecutive wins, Florida State is 20-11 on the year. After sweeping a 2-game series against Florida Gulf Coast, the Seminoles will open at 3-game set at North Carolina State on Friday.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball defeated Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday 3-2 in a game called after five innings. The FSU track and field team was in Athens for the Bulldog Decathlon/Heptathlon also.

On the Agenda

The FSU track and field team will participate in the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville.

News and Notes

FSU moved up to No. 23 in the Directors Cup. The Seminoles were previously 34th.
