Florida State (11-2) completed the 2-game sweep over UCF (11-3) with a 5-0 victory in Orlando on Wednesday night. The Seminoles have won nine consecutive contests, outscoring their opponents 97-31 over that stretch.

The Good: Florida State’s pitching staff had a great 2-game stand in Orlando, especially the bullpen. Florida State relievers threw 12 innings, only giving up four hits and no earned runs. Will Zirzow went five strong innings on Wednesday night, giving up one hit and striking out seven Knights.

The Bad: The Seminoles’ offense has been good, but just like Tuesday night’s 5-2 victory over UCF, FSU left a lot of runners on base. After leaving nine Noles on base Tuesday, the Seminoles upped the number by four to leave 13 runners stranded on Wednesday and 22 runners total over the two games.

The Ugly: UCF’s bullpen was able to settle down and deliver five shutout innings to end the game, but stater Joe Sheridan and senior Tallahassee native Drew Faintich did not have the same success. In four combined innings, Sheridan and Faintich combined to walk five Noles while allowing five hits and five runs.

Studs of the Game: Will Zirzow gave FSU five innings of 1-hit ball. Zirzow faced the minimum 15 batters, striking out seven.

Duds of the Game: Cal Raleigh continues to slump on the season. The highly-touted sophomore went 0-for-5 at the plate with two strikeouts. Raleigh is now batting .204 on the season with one home run and seven RBIs.
