It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. To help you make it to the weekend, we’ll keep you up to date on the latest in FSU athletics by updating the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

It appears as though Florida State will be bringing in two 5-star running backs for 2017. With the 247Sports Composite rankings adjusted to reflect changes by Rivals, Virginia product Khalan Laborn is now a 5-star running back.

Laborn is one of three running backs committed to FSU, joining fellow 5-star Cam Akers and 4-star Zaquandre White. Laborn, a 5-10, 200-pound prospect, first starting turning heads when he pulled up in a Lamborghini at The Opening in Oregon with a Florida State decal on the side to announce his commitment. Earlier this month, Laborn was named MVP of the Under Armour All-American game.

Laborn is now listed as the No. 1 all-purpose back in the country and the No. 28 overall player. While Laborn ascended to a 5-star, cornerback Stanford Samuels III fell to a 4-star prospect. With the reshuffling, FSU as a team also fell from the No. 5 overall class for 2017 to sixth.

Between the Lines

FSU’s men’s basketball team defeated No. 15 Notre Dame on Wednesday night, 83-80.

On the Agenda

FSU’s women’s basketball team will host Syracuse at 7 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will air on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU will visit 4-star wide receiver Henry Ruggs before he makes his official visit to Alabama.

4-star safety and Tennessee commit Maleik Gray won’t take his official visit to FSU and will shut down his recruitment.
