Happy Friday to you Florida State fans out there. Where FSU athletics are concerned, it looks to be a quiet one, but we’ll keep you up to date on the latest in Seminole sports by updating the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Perfect Game Baseball released its preseason poll on Thursday and the poll thinks highly of Florida State coming into 2017. The Seminoles will begin the year ranked third behind TCU and LSU.

With the exception of third baseman John Sansone, FSU returns virtually everyone from a team that went 41-22 last season and finished one win shy of the College World Series. The Seminoles also bring in a talented recruiting class headlined by infielder Drew Mendoza and 2-way player J.C. Flowers.

In an earlier poll released, Collegiate Baseball had the Seminoles ranked ninth to start the year. FSU will begin the season at home on Feb. 17 against Virginia Commonwealth.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s basketball used a big fourth quarter to down Louisville on Thursday night, 72-65. It was FSU’s third straight win and second straight over a ranked opponent.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Friday.

News and Notes

FSU running back Dalvin Cook and linebacker Matthew Thomas were each named to ESPN’s All-Bowl team.
