Happy hump day, Florida State fans. Considering the events of Tuesday and the start of ACC play in basketball, it should be an exciting one. We’ll keep you up to date on the latest by updating the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State is ecstatic over its addition of 5-star running back Cam Akers, but that wasn’t the only good news the Seminoles received on the recruiting trail Tuesday.

5-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson narrowed his list of schools down to five and FSU made the cut. Joining the Seminoles was LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma and South Florida.

Surprisingly, Texas did not make the cut for the Bellaire product of the Lone Star State. Wilson, listed at 6-4 and 330 pounds, is the No. 3 overall prospect for 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings and the top player at his position.

Wilson will announce his commitment on National Signing Day, which falls on Feb. 1, 2017.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU’s men’s basketball team will open ACC play at home on Wednesday against Wake Forest. The game starts at 5 p.m. EST and will air on ESPN2.

News and Notes

With the addition of Akers, FSU moved up from seventh to fifth in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.

Dwayne Bacon and Xavier Rathan-Mayes each scored 23 points to FSU past Wake Forest in the ACC opener for both teams, 88-72.
