It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans and with the start of ACC play in basketball and the Capital One Orange Bowl quickly approaching, we’ll do all we can to keep you up to date on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State hopes to land its fourth commitment in less than two weeks and its second 5-star in less than one on Tuesday as running back Cam Akers will announce his college destination.

The best player in the state of Mississippi, Akers’ decision is expected to be between FSU and Ole Miss. Akers, a 5-11, 215-pound back out of Clinton, is the No. 4 overall prospect in the country and the second-rated running back, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

FSU already has two running backs committed for 2017 in Zaquandre White and Khalan Laborn, both 4-stars, but Akers would certainly be a huge get. TDN recruiting analyst Jay Brading has Akers crystal-balled for Tallahassee.
