The Daily Nole — Nov. 23, 2016: LSU’s Pursuit of Fisher Continues

Mitch White/FSU athletics

There’s one day until Thanksgiving and three until Florida State takes on Florida at Doak Campbell Stadium. We’ll do our best to get you there. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The rumors of Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher possibly leaving the capital of Florida for the capital of Louisiana continue to intensify, but it’s hard to tell what’s really going on behind the scenes.

The latest reports have Fisher’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, upping the price for Fisher’s services. LSU is reportedly prepared to pay the seventh-year FSU head coach $6 million per year, which would be an increase from the $5.25 million he currently makes annually at FSU. LSU believes that Fisher is very interested in the job while FSU President John Thrasher believes that Fisher’s intentions are to stay in Tallahassee.

Fisher has known ties to LSU after serving as offensive coordinator under Nick Saban from 2000-04 and Les Miles from 2005-06. Fisher took over as offensive coordinator at FSU in 2007 before becoming the school’s head coach in 2010. Fisher is 76-17 in seven years as Florida State’s head coach with three ACC championships and the 2013 national title.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda
