It’s Miami Hate Week, Florida State fans. That’s means it’s the week where the Seminoles and rival Hurricanes battle on the gridiron as FSU looks to make it seven straight over Miami. Until then, there are plenty of other programs in action for the Seminoles and enough news to keep us occupied. The news and notes sections will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s women’s golf team is in the hunt after two days at the Cougar Classic in Hanahan, South Carolina. The Seminoles moved up two spots on Monday — the second day of a 3-day tournament.

FSU currently sits at sixth at -5, but is only three strokes back of third place UCF. Furman leads the tournament at -18.

Morgane Metraux and Matilda Castren have been the top two players for FSU thus far. The tournament wraps up Tuesday.

Between the Lines

The FSU men’s golf team was also in action on Monday at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in Birmingham. The Seminoles are currently seventh out of 12 teams at +13. Baylor and Auburn are tied for the lead at -2.

On the Agenda

Both the men’s and women’s golf teams for FSU will resume action on Tuesday.

News and Notes

Some minor changes were made to the FSU depth chart on Monday. The most notable change was perhaps Nate Andrews replacing A.J. Westbrook as the clear starter at free safety.

The ACC announced sites for eight conference championships this academic year. Many were moved from the state of North Carolina because of a controversial house bill that prohibited transgender people from using restrooms of their choice. The most notable change is the 2017 ACC Baseball Tournament, which will move from Durham to Louisville.

Florida State’s Steven Cross was named the ACC’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. Cross was knocked down early, but rallied to finish 102nd out of 194 runners at the Notre Dame Invitational.
