We’ve hit Hump Day, Florida State fans. The big rivalry contest on the gridiron against Miami is just three days away, but there is plenty to report about FSU athletics. Keep it here as we update the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Eight neutral-site ACC championships and tournaments originally scheduled for North Carolina were moved on Tuesday. The move was made in protest to a North Carolina house bill that prohibits transgender people from using the public restroom of their choice.

The most notable move came in baseball as the ACC Tournament will shift from Durham, North Carolina to Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, Kentucky. It marks the first time since 2008 that the tournament was not played in either Durham or Greensboro.

The tournament takes place May 23-28. Florida State has advanced to the ACC final in each of the last two years.

Between the Lines

Florida State’s women’s golf team finished fourth out of 21 teams at the Cougar Classic in South Carolina at -9. The men’s team didn’t fare as well, finishing just 10th out of 12 teams at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in Alabama.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events on the slate for Wednesday.

News and Notes

Showtime’s “A Season With” featuring Florida State aired on Tuesday night. It should become available online Wednesday.

During Wednesday’s ACC teleconference, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said the team will likely travel to South Florida on Friday morning instead of Thursday night to try to avoid Hurricane Matthew.

For the moment, Saturday’s contest between FSU and Miami is set to go on as scheduled.

ACC athletic directors voted Wednesday to continue playing an 8-game conference schedule with each school being required to schedule one non-conference Power 5 opponent. The ACC had flirted with the idea of going to a 9-game conference slate.
