The Daily Nole — Oct. 3, 2016: FSU Volleyball Handles BC

The pain from the weekend might not be fully over for Florida State football fans, but it’s worth knowing that some other programs did well and it’s the week of FSU-Miami, so throw the records out the window. ACC players of the week will be announced shortly across various sports as will game times for the slate of games on Oct. 15. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State volleyball remained perfect in ACC play on Sunday with a home victory over Boston College in straight sets. The Seminoles won 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 at Tully Gymnasium to improve to 11-2 on the season and 4-0 in ACC play.

Mara Green topped the team with eight kills while Katie Horton led the Seminoles with 13 digs. Madisen Lydon finished with 12 kills to lead Boston College.

FSU will again be in action on Friday against a good North Carolina squad. The match will begin at 6 p.m. EST in Chapel Hill.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU volleyball winning, the men’s and women’s tennis teams were in action. At the Cougar Fall Classic in South Carolina, the FSU women’s golf team currently sits in eighth place out of 21 teams, eight strokes back of leader Furman.

On the Agenda

For the men’s tennis team, Aziz Dougas will be in action at the ITA Men’s All-American championships in Tulsa. The women’s golf team will continue the Cougar Classic while the men’s team begins the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in Birmingham.

News and Notes

Florida State will take on Wake Forest on Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. EST. The contest will air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

The ACC will announce players of the week for various sports.
