Florida State sophomore first baseman Dylan Busby will be among eight players to compete in TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby.

Busby will be joined by Miami University’s Gary Russo, Lamar’s Reid Russell, LSU’s Gregory Deichmann, East Tennessee State’s Hagen Owenby, Mississippi State’s Brent Rooker and Ole Miss’ Colby Bortles.

Busby led the Seminoles this past season with 14 home runs, which was good for seventh in the ACC. Much of Busby’s success came late in the season as the sophomore blasted six home runs in a 7-game stretch that spanned the ACC Tournament and Tallahassee Regional.

Busby becomes just the second FSU player to take part in the competition which began in 2010. D.J. Stewart participated in the derby for the Seminoles in 2013.

North Dakota’s Jeff Campbell was last year’s winner. The competition will take place on July 3 in Omaha at 8:30 p.m. EST and will air on ESPN2.
