The Daily Nole — Nov. 13, 2020: FSU Hoops Ranked 18th in Preseason Coaches Poll

It’s Friday, Florida State fans.

As your wrap up your work week, kick things off by checking out our daily rundown. Here’s the latest in FSU athletics.

Lead Story

Florida State basketball will begin ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll, but will start a bit higher in the Amway Coaches Poll.

On Thursday, FSU saw itself sitting at No. 18 in the preseason poll. Last season, the Seminoles finished in the top five for the first time in the history of the poll.

It is the highest ranking for FSU in either poll since beginning No. 15 to start the 2018-19 campaign. This year’s FSU roster is headlined by senior guard M.J. Walker and star freshman Scottie Barnes. The Seminoles will host Gardner-Webb to open the season on Nov. 27.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer will take on Duke the ACC Tournament semifinals in Cary, NC on Friday. The match begins at 5:30 p.m. ET and airs on ACC Network. FSU women’s swimming and diving will host TCU.

FSU defensive tackle Marvin Wilson has been selected to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Top-100 forward Mariana Valenzuela has signed her National Letter of Intent to play for Florida State women’s basketball.
