It’s a new week, Florida State fans.

As you settle in, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

Florida State basketball raced to an early 16-point lead on Sunday, but that advantage wouldn’t last. A last-second 3-point attempt went awry as South Carolina topped the Seminoles in the No Room for Racism Classic in Rock Hill, 66-65.

FSU raced to a 27-11 lead and led by as many as nine in the second half, but a late 12-0 run put the Gamecocks ahead for good. The Seminoles were able to cut that lead to one late and had the ball with a chance to win. Forward Malik Osborne was able to get an open look from deep just before the horn, but his winning attempt was no good.

Osborne led FSU with 15 points and nine rebounds. Caleb Mills added 13 points in the defeat. Devin Carter came off the bench to lead the Gamecocks with 16 points and seven rebounds.

At 5-4, FSU will try to snap a 3-game losing streak when it returns home to face Lipscomb on Wednesday night.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s men’s basketball loss, the FSU women were defeated by Florida on Sunday, 69-55.

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.
