The Daily Nole — Dec. 9, 2021: FSU Soccer’s Howell Named Finalist for MAC Hermann Trophy

Two days after helping Florida State soccer win its third national championship, midfielder Jaelin Howell was named a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy.

The award annually goes to the best player in college soccer. A senior from Colorado, Howell is a 3-time first-team All-ACC performer and the reigning winner of the award.

This past season, Howell finished with three goals and four assists. The most notable goal was the game-winner against Rutgers in the College Cup.

Howell looks to become sixth repeat winner of the award. Aside from Howell last season, the only other FSU player to receive the honor was Mami Yamaguchi in 2007.

FSU football defensive end Jermaine Johnson II has been named a first-team All-American by ESPN and CBS Sports.

Florida State will hire analyst Randy Shannon as linebackers coach. Shannon replaces Chris Marve, who left to become defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech.
