Seminole Sunday Summary: FSU Football Sits at 0-4 for First Time Since 1974

Florida State athletics

A disappointing season continued for Florida State football on Saturday as the Seminoles fell to 0-4 for the first time in 47 years with a 31-23 home loss to Louisville.

FSU showed fight after falling behind by 24 points in the first half. Ultimately, the comeback bid came up short.

Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham accounted for four first-half touchdowns as the Cardinals raced to a commanding 31-7 lead. Cunningham rushed for two scores in addition to touchdown strikes to Jordan Watkins and Tyler Harrell less than 90 seconds in.

FSU got as close as eight behind touchdown runs from Treshaun Ward and Jashaun Corbin. McKenzie Milton connected with Andrew Parchment for a 23-yard score late in the first half that cut the deficit to 31-13.

Corbin scored from 75 yards out on his first carry of the second half before Ryan Fitzgerald connected on a long field goal midway through the fourth quarter. FSU reached midfield on the game’s final drive, but Milton’s deep pass was intercepted by Louisville’s Kei’Trel Clark to seal the contest.

Cunningham finished with 264 yards passing to go with a team-high 56 on the ground in the victory. Corbin led all rushers with 159 yards on 11 carries in the loss. Milton passed for 248 yards in the defeat.

At 0-4, FSU will try to get into the win column this week as it hosts Syracuse.
