Seminole Sunday Summary: FSU Football Gets First Win of Season on Last-Second FG

Florida State athletics

On the 45th anniversary of legendary Bobby Bowden’s first win as Florida State head coach, the Seminoles collected their first victory since his passing. A 34-yard field goal by Ryan Fitzgerald as time expired was the difference in a 33-30 win over Syracuse on Saturday.

Quarterback Jordan Travis had runs of 33 and 25 yards on the decisive drive to set up the winning kick. Travis finished with 113 yards rushing and a pair of touchdown passes in the victory.

As a team, Florida State twice led by 10 points, but was unable to hold that lead. Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader also had a big day rushing, going for 137 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

FSU rushed for 247 yards as a team to 239 for the Orange. Treshaun Ward and Jashaun Corbin rushed for 66 and 65 yards, respectively, in the victory.

Camren McDonald and Keyshawn Helton each caught touchdowns in the win. Also scoring for FSU was Andrew Parchment, who was alert on a lateral pass that he scooped up for a touchdown.

With the win, FSU improves to 1-4 and 1-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles hit the road next week to face North Carolina.
