The Daily Nole — Sept. 13, 2021: FSU Soccer Holds Off Auburn in Top-10 Showdown

Lead Story

On the road against a top-10 team, Florida State soccer remained undefeated on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Auburn.

The top-ranked Seminoles got both of their goals in the first half. The match was less than a minute old when Beata Olsson scored her fifth goal of the season. In the 37th minute, Maria Alagoa doubled the lead for the Seminoles.

No. 10 Auburn got on the board in the 55th minute on Anna Haddock’s fifth goal of the season. Goalkeeper Cristina Roque and company were able to keep the Tigers at bay for the rest of the match.

Emily Madril, Jody Brown and Gabby Carle all collected assists for FSU in the victory. With the win, the Seminoles moved to 7-0 on the season. They open ACC play on Saturday against Boston College.

Between the Lines

FSU’s soccer victory was the lone scheduled athletic event for Sunday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

News and Notes

During Wednesday’s home match against Florida, FSU volleyball will host “Doughnuts for Bri” to honor the life of former middle blocker Brianna Barry.

4-star center Cameron Corhen has committed to FSU basketball.
