The Daily Nole — Sept. 10, 2021: FSU Volleyball Rallies Past Georgia in Orlando

After winning three straight matches at home last week, Florida State volleyball notched perhaps its most impressive win on the young season on Thursday night. The Seminoles twice trailed by a set, but rallied to beat Georgia in the UCF Invitational, 3-2.

The teams alternated the first four sets with Georgia winning the first and third and FSU claiming the second and fourth. In the fifth and decisive set however, FSU scored the final three points for a 15-13 victory.

FSU led 12-8 in the fifth set before the Bulldogs responded with five straight points. After a kill from Morgan Chacon and an error from Georgia, Sydney Conley clinched the victory for FSU.

Audrey Koenig and Khori Louis each tallied 15 kills in the win for FSU. Emery Dupes recorded 23 digs while Lily Tessier recorded 51 assists. Kacie Evans led Georgia with a match-high 29 kills.

With the victory, FSU improves to 5-1 and has won four straight. The Seminoles resume the UCF Invitational on Friday against host UCF. The match begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and streams on ESPN+.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s volleyball victory, FSU soccer topped Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night, 4-0.

On the Agenda

The UCF Invitational is the lone scheduled FSU athletic event for Friday.

News and Notes

Former FSU golfers Daniel Berger and Brooks Koepka have been named to the U.S. Ryder Cup team.

FSU women’s golf will begin ranked No. 5 in the Golfweek Poll and No. 7 in the WGCA Poll.

The FSU student section is sold out for Saturday’s contest against Jacksonville State.
