Larry Novey/Florida State athletics

In the first meeting between Florida State and Florida this athletic year, it was the Seminoles who prevailed. No. 1 FSU soccer stayed undefeated with a 5-2 win on Thursday night in Tallahassee.

FSU trailed for the first time all season as Florida’s Kit Loferski found the net in the 10th minute. That lead lasted less than a minute and less than four minutes later, the Seminoles were in the lead. Jaelin Howell, Beata Olsson and Clara Robbins all scored to help FSU build a 3-1 halftime lead.

In the second half, Olsson and Robbins each scored again to push the lead to 5-1. Howell and Yujie Zhao added assists for FSU in the victory. Florida got a goal from Shaye Seyffart in the final minute.

With the win, FSU improved to 5-0 and ran its winning streak over Florida to four. The five goals scored and two allowed were both season-highs for the Seminoles. The Seminoles will have a week off before visiting Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday.
