The Daily Nole — July 13, 2021: Martin, Perdue Selected on Day 2 of MLB Draft

Lead Story

On the second day of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft, two more Florida State players were selected. Outfielder Robby Martin and pitcher Hunter Perdue each had their names called on Monday.

Martin was selected in the eighth round with the No. 230 overall pick by the Colorado Rockies. Martin hit .260 this past season with 11 home runs and 51 RBIs.

Perdue went two rounds later in the 10th to the Miami Marlins with the 299th overall pick. He was 1-3 this past season with a 3.37 ERA and one save. Perdue struck out 28 batters in 22 innings of work.

Martin and Perdue join catcher Matheu Nelson as FSU players taken in this year’s MLB Draft. The draft will conclude with the final 30 rounds on Tuesday.

FSU soccer has released its 2021 schedule. The Seminoles open at home on Aug. 19 against Texas A&M.

Defensive end Jermaine Johnson and quarterbacks McKenzie Milton and Jordan Travis will represent FSU football at ACC Kickoff, the conference’s media day, on July 22 in Charlotte.
