The Daily Nole — March 23, 2021: FSU Hoops Tops Colorado, Advances to Sweet 16

For a third straight NCAA Tournament, Florida State basketball is bound for the Sweet 16. The fourth-seeded Seminoles punched their ticket on Monday night with a 71-53 victory over No. 5 seed Colorado.

After a sluggish first half for both teams offensively, FSU pulled away in the second. The Seminoles shot 52% as a team while the Buffaloes shot less than 36%.

Guard Anthony Polite paced FSU with a career-high 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting. Malik Osborne added 11 points in the win. D’Shawn Schwartz finished with 13 points to pace Colorado.

With the win, FSU moves on to face top-seeded Michigan. The teams will meet on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET on CBS.

Between the Lines

In addition to the FSU hoops win, FSU women’s golf began the Pinetree Collegiate in Atlanta on Monday. Through one day, FSU is in first place.

FSU women’s golf will resume the Pinetree Collegiate on Tuesday.
