Florida State women’s golf has ascended to the No. 1 spot in the latest Golfweek/Sargain rankings.

After finishing fourth in the Moon Invitational to open the season, the Seminoles dominated the Florida State Match-Up last week. FSU won by 37 strokes over second-place Kent State.

Also ranked No. 1, per Golfweek, is FSU’s Beatrice Wallin. After finishing tied for sixth at the Moon Invitational, Wallin won the Florida State Match-Up, beating teammates Amelia Williamson and Charlotte Heath by 13 strokes each.

Up next for FSU is a trip to Augusta, Ga. for the 2-day Valspar Augusta Invitational. That begins March 13.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s hoops will take on Syracuse in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday. That contest begins at 2:30 p.m. ET and airs on Regional Sports Networks. FSU cross country takes part in the FSU XC Last Chance. FSU beach volleyball begins the Bayou Beach Duals with matches against Louisiana Monroe and Tulane. Florida State volleyball will be at Duke while FSU softball visits Florida. That contest begins at 3:30 p.m. ET and airs on SEC Network. FSU baseball hosts Virginia at 6 p.m. ET in a contest that streams on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU track and field senior Trey Cunningham was selected as USTFCCCA South Region Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. FSU’s Kelly Phillips was named the South Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year.

Cunningham was also named to The Bowerman 2021 men’s Pre-NCAA Indoor watch list.

16 FSU track and field athletes will participate in the NCAA Indoor Championships.

FSU football players Joshua Kaindoh, Hamsah Nasirildeen, Janarius Robinson, Asante Samuel Jr., Tamorrion Terry, and Marvin Wilson were all invited to the NFL Combine.
