After an outstanding career at Florida State, rookie running back Cam Akers had a breakout game for the Los Angeles Rams in Thursday night’s 24-3 win over the New England Patriots.

On 29 carries, Akers rushed for 171 yards. He also caught two passes for 23 yards to finish just six yards shy of 200 from scrimmage for the night.

Akers’ 171 rushing yards in the most for a rookie in the NFL this season and the fourth-most by a rookie in Rams’ history. It was also the most ever for a rookie against New England.

For the season, Akers now has 528 yards on the ground. That ranks fourth among rookies this season.
