Your Thoughts Thursday: Virginia Will Beat FSU by Multiple Scores

ACC play is just two days away for Florida State as the Seminoles look to shake off a less than ideal start on Saturday night at Virginia.

This week, we asked our social media followers how FSU would fare against the No. 25 Cavaliers. It’s safe to say that confidence in the Seminoles is waning.

62 percent of the 161 accounts that responded have Virginia winning, including 55 percent by at least two scores. 26 percent have FSU edging out a close one and 12 percent see the Seminoles winning by multiple scores.

Our Take
If anything, last week’s 45-44 overtime win over Louisiana-Monroe left me less confident about Florida State’s 2019 prospects than blowing an 18-point lead against Boise State in the opener.

Although six was scored in overtime, FSU gave up 37 points after halftime to a Sun Belt school that has never won a bowl game and hasn’t had a winning season since 2012. The FSU offense is improved this season, but has had its issues with turnovers and penalties while the defense can’t seem to stop anyone.

Virginia not only has the best defense that FSU has faced so far, but the best quarterback in Bryce Perkins. Both Boise State’s Hank Backmeier and Louisiana-Monroe’s Caleb Evans had their way with the Florida State defense. Virginia 41, FSU 24.
