With the 2019 baseball season less than two months away, a pair of Florida State players are already receiving preseason recognition.

Juniors Drew Parrish, a pitcher, and third baseman Drew Mendoza were each named preseason All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball on Thursday. Parrish was named a first-team selection while Mendoza made Collegiate Baseball’s second team. The publication ranked the Seminoles No. 10 to start the year earlier in the week.

With Tyler Holton out with a season-ending injury last season, Parrish became the unquestioned ace of the FSU pitching staff. The lefty finished his sophomore season with a 5-1 record and 2.52 ERA. Parrish struck out 128 batters and walked just 37 in 107 innings of work last season.

Mendoza batted .313 as a sophomore last season with seven home runs, 44 RBIs and 44 runs scored. Mendoza also slugged .491 and finished with a .440 on-base percentage.

Parrish will likely get the Opening Day start for the Seminoles when they play host to Maine on Feb. 15. Click here to view Collegiate Baseball’s complete preseason team.
