3-Star Center Naheem McLeod Commits to Florida State

One of the final pieces of the Florida State 2019 recruiting class joined on Monday night. 3-star center Naheem McLeod went public with his commitment and became the fifth player in the 2019 group.

Florida State quickly filled up its spots, with McLeod being the fourth commit in two months.

McLeod is an example of a Leonard “Hamilton special”, which sounds derogatory, but is more positive in light of recent results with Christ Koumadje. McLeod is a full 7-foot-3 prospect who comes in just a hair under 200 pounds. He is obviously a center at the next level, but will not be seeing the court until a full redshirt year and more.

That being said, McLeod is not nearly as raw as some other project players that Hamilton has taken in years past. He is more comfortable with the ball in his hands and shows a surprising athleticism for his size. The moves he shows on offense indicate a player who simply needs time to adjust to the college game.

McLeod’s commitment brings the Seminoles’ class to 13th in the nation and 2nd in the ACC, according to the 247Sports Composite. FSU signed two of its commits during the early signing period: 4-star center Balsa Koprivica and JUCO guard Nathanael Jack. The rest are expected to qualify and sign to Florida state.

This will likely be the final commitment of the cycle for the Seminoles. If it stands, FSU will have a top 15 recruiting class in four of the last five years.
