The Daily Nole — Oct. 19, 2018: FSU Legend Ward to Serve as Grand Marshal of Homecoming Parade

It’s Friday, Florida State fans, which means we’re just one day away from more FSU football. As your work week comes to a close, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

A legend will be in the house on Friday as Florida State hosts its annual homecoming parade.

Former FSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward will be the grand marshal of the parade on Friday. Ward was a 2-sport star for the Seminoles on the gridiron and the hardwood, leading FSU to its first national championship in football while becoming the school’s first Heisman winner.

The parade begins at 2 p.m. EST. Pow Wow will have sessions at 10 a.m. EST and 5 p.m. EST. FSU hosts Wake Forest in the homecoming football game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s tennis began the ITA Regional Championships on Thursday. FSU soccer defeated Pittsburgh, 4-0.

On the Agenda

Both FSU tennis teams will take part in the ITA Regional Championships on Friday. FSU women’s golf takes part in the Stanford Intercollegiate. The men’s team participates in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Championships. FSU volleyball hosts Georgia Tech at 6:30 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

Both FSU baseball and FSU softball will participate in scrimmages on Friday. After the garnet and gold scrimmage, FSU softball takes on Thomas University in an exhibition. FSU baseball plays an exhibition against Jacksonville.
