It’s the first college football Saturday of the 2018 season, Florida State fans. Although you’ll have to wait another couple of days to watch your Seminoles play, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State soccer remains undefeated and un-scored upon, but no longer perfect.

In a match-up of top-10 teams on Friday night in Tallahassee, No. 4 FSU and No. 7 USC played to a 0-0 tie. The Seminoles outshot the Women of Troy by a wide margin, 18-6, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Kaycie Tillman in the 84th minute and Malia Berkley in the 107th minute nearly broke the tie for FSU, but to no avail. FSU goalkeeper Brooke Bollinger needed to make just one save.

With the tie, FSU moves to 4-0-1 on the season. Up next for the Seminoles is a match-up with No. 2 UCLA on Sunday.

Between the Lines

In addition to the highly-anticipated soccer match, FSU volleyball defeated TCU in straight sets at the Colorado State Tournament. FSU cross country kicked off the season on Friday by winning the Covered Bridge Open on both the men’s and women’s side.

On the Agenda

FSU volleyball will take on Colorado State on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. EST as part of the Colorado State Open. The contest airs on Mountain West Network.
