Florida State’s 2-game losing streak came to an end at Dick Howser Stadium on Tuesday night as the Seminoles completed the season sweep of Jacksonville, 10-4.

Freshman Austin Pollock worked into the seventh inning to pick up the win for FSU while Jonah Scolaro threw three no-hit innings to earn his sixth save. FSU will have just a day off before playing four games in three days against Mount St. Mary’s.

The Good: The Florida State offense equaled its run total from the first two games with Jacksonville on Wednesday night by putting up a 10-spot. Five different players drove in a run for the Seminoles and four scored multiple times. FSU also only had to use two arms on Wednesday, which is good with a 4-game set upcoming.

The Bad: Consistency in the strike zone was not a strength for the Dolphins’ pitching staff on Wednesday night. Six Jacksonville hurlers combined to issue eight walks. Pollock and Scolaro each issued just one for FSU.

The Ugly: It was an outstanding night for the FSU lineup, except at the bottom. No. 8 and No. 9 hitters, Mike Salvatore and Nick Derr, combined to go 0-for-7. Salvatore did reach base once on a walk. Everyone else in the Florida State lineup reached base at least twice.

Studs of the Game: Jackson Lueck, Cal Raleigh, Drew Mendoza and Rafael Bournigal each had two hits for FSU on Wednesday night. Mendoza and Raleigh each scored twice while Mendoza and Bournigal each drove in two runs. Reese Albert had three RBIs for the Seminoles. Scolaro also deserves credit for his three solid innings of relief. Scott Dubrule was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Dolphins.

Duds of the Game: Nick Derr unfortunately earns the distinction for FSU with an 0-for-4 night. Designated hitter John Cassala was hitless in four at-bats for Jacksonville. On the mound, Matt Meyer, Nathan Disch and Adrian Garrastazu combined to allow seven earned runs in three combined innings of relief for the Dolphins.
