FSU Women’s Golf Cruises to NCAA Championships

After the first round of the NCAA Tournament’s Tallahassee Regional, Florida State’s women’s golf team was outside of the top 6. Over the last two days of the regional, only one team was better than the Seminoles.

FSU clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a second-place finish at Don Veller Seminole Golf Club. Only regional winner, Alabama, was better over the final two rounds.

As a team, Florida State finished -24. for the regional. The Crimson Tide finished nine strokes better at -33.

The top individual finisher for Florida State was Morgan Metraux, who finished in a tie for fourth place at -10. Teammate Amanda Doherty wasn’t far behind, finishing in a sixth-place tie at -9. Wake Forest’s Jennifer Kupcho was the top finisher overall at -15.

Advancing from the Tallahassee Regional aside from Alabama and FSU will be Furman, Arizona and Washington, who finished third through fifth, respectively. ACC schools Clemson and Wake Forest finished the third round tied for sixth at -5 and will play a playoff for the right to advance.

The NCAA Championships take place from May 18-23 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
