In the latest The Daily Nole Poll, we asked our readers and Twitter followers to turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball. On Thursday, we asked which Florida State junior linebacker would have the best season in 2018:

Texas native Dontavious Jackson easily topped the poll, earning 77 percent. A big-time prospect out of Houston, Jackson has played behind more veteran players but appears ready to take the next step.

Jackson had a nice spring for the Seminoles, recording four tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in the Garnet and Gold game. Among linebackers, Jackson is the leading returning tackler with 17 total stops last season.

Finishing a distant second was Emmett Rice with 14 percent. Rice tallied 14 tackles and an interception last season. Josh Brown was third with 5 percent of the vote while Adonis Thomas was fourth, garnering 4 percent.

Thomas recorded 12 tackles last season, including one for loss in his first season as a Seminole. He totaled six tackles and a sack during the spring game. Brown finished his sophomore season with three tackles.

We’ll have another poll for you next week.
