The final major publication to list an All-American preseason college baseball team selected a pair of Florida State players on Monday.

According to NCBWA’s preseason team, pitcher Tyler Holton is a second-team selection. Outfielder Jackson Lueck was a third-team selection.

Fresh off an All-American season as a sophomore, Holton turned down the Miami Marlins to return for a junior season. In 2017, Holton posted a 10-3 record with a 2.34 ERA and 144 strikeouts in just over 119 innings. In addition to being the unquestioned ace of FSU’s staff, Holton is expected to take on a bigger role with the bat.

Speaking of the bat, Lueck returns after hitting .318 — a team-best for players with at least 150 at-bats. Lueck, a junior, homered nine times last season and drove in 54 runs. Lueck also had a flare for the dramatic with walk-off hits in wins over Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament and Sam Houston State in the Tallahassee Super Regional.

Holton, Lueck and the Seminoles open the 2018 season against Xavier on Feb. 16.
