The Daily Nole — Feb. 3, 2018: FSU Softball’s Warren, King Named Among 50 Best

A pair of Florida State softball players have been named to Top 50 Watch List for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

The two Seminoles to find their names on the list were senior third baseman Jessie Warren and redshirt junior pitcher Meghan King. Warren is the reigning ACC Player of the Year after hitting .413 with 23 home runs and 68 RBIs a season ago. From the circle, King was 27-3 with a 1.50 ERA.

FSU is one of only two schools to have multiple players win the honor. The first to do it was Jessica van der Linden in 2004. Lacey Waldrop was the most recent to earn the honor in 2014.

Between the Lines

FSU swimming and diving kicked off the Auburn Invite on Friday night.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving will resume the Auburn Invite on Saturday. FSU basketball will be at Louisville in a contest that begins at 4 p.m. EST and airs on the ACC Network. FSU men’s and women’s tennis takes on Florida in Lake Nona in a contest that airs on the Tennis Channel at 7 p.m. EST.

FSU held off Louisville on Saturday to pick up a much-needed road win, 80-76.
