Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your week chugs along, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

After a strong 2017, big things are expected out of Florida State softball in 2018.

The Seminoles begin the season ranked No. 6 in the USA Softball Poll and No. 9 in the NFCA Poll. Reigning national champion Oklahoma topped both polls.

After a 55-8-1 season that ended one win shy of the Women’s College World Series, FSU should possess a potent lineup that includes ACC Player of the Year, Jessie Warren, Morgan Klaevemann, Dani Morgan and Cali Harrod. Meghan King and Florida Atlantic transfer Kylee Hanson will man the circle. The Seminoles open the season on Feb. 9 against Portland State.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.
