The Daily Nole — Jan. 24, 2018: FSU Women Climb Into Top 10

Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your Wednesday goes on, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

For the first time this season, Florida State women’s basketball is ranked in the top 10 in both polls.

After coming in at No. 8 in the AP Poll on Monday, the Seminoles climbed to eighth in the USA Today Coaches Poll on Tuesday. The highest FSU had been ranked in either poll prior to this week was 10th in the Coaches.

At 18-2 and tied atop the conference at 6-1 in ACC play, the Seminoles are coming off a thrilling 50-49 win at then No. 2 and previously undefeated Louisville. On Saunday, they’ll play host to No. 5 Notre Dame in what will be the first ever AP top 10 women’s match-up in the history of the Donald L. Tucker Center.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU basketball will host Georgia Tech on Wednesday night. The contest begins at 7 p.m. EST and airs on Raycom Sports Network.

News and Notes

FSU runner Andre Ewers was named the ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Week.

FSU running back Cam Akers is listed by Bovada at 22-to-1 odds to win the 2018 Heisman Trophy.

FSU quarterback Deondre Francois was investigated for domestic violence, according to a report from the Tallahassee Democrat.

FSU hoops defeated Georgia Tech on Wednesday night at home, 88-77.
