FSU’s McFadden to Enter Draft

A down-year in 2017 didn’t stop Florida State cornerback Tarvarus McFadden from taking the next step in his football career.

McFadden announced on Saturday that he would forego his senior season and enter the 2018 NFL Draft. McFadden becomes the third FSU player to leave early, joining safety Derwin James, defensive end Josh Sweat, tight end Ryan Izzo and wide receiver Auden Tate.

After an FBS-leading eight interceptions and the Jack Tatum Award as a sophomore in 2016, McFadden went without a pick in 2017 while recording 30 total tackles and 10 pass break-ups. McFadden did return a blocked field goal for a touchdown.

After a disappointing season, the early departure of McFadden doesn’t appear to be as significant of a loss as it would have prior to the year. The Seminoles still have a slew of talented young cornerbacks like Levonta Taylor, Stanford Samuels III, Kyle Meyers and Carlos Becker on top on incoming freshmen Anthony Lytton and Asante Samuel, Jr.
