Florida State has hired current Michigan offensive line coach Greg Frey to fill the same spot in Tallahassee. After weeks of speculation, it was confirmed on Thursday night that Frey would join new head coach Willie Taggart’s staff.

The position came open late in December when it was reported by Warchant that Rick Trickett would no longer be the offensive line coach for the Seminoles. Frey is a former FSU lineman who played from 1993-96, and went into assistant coaching shortly after his graduation.

He had coached for eight years at South Florida from 1999 until 2006, West Virginia in 2007, Michigan from 2008-10, and Indiana from 2011-16. Frey’s recent stint with the Wolverines was his second, since he was let go in 2010 after then head coach Rich Rodriguez was fired.

Frey is a native of Florida and graduated from Clearwater High School. Aside from the boost he provides in recruiting the area, Frey’s results at Indiana and Michigan were impressive. He helped the Hoosiers boast a top 10 offense in 2013 and has produced multiple draft picks at both schools.
