The Daily Nole — Dec. 26, 2017: Khalan Laborn Not Practicing With Team

FSU athletics

It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. Now that the Christmas holiday is over, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State running back Khalan Laborn was not practicing with the team and was instead back in his home state of Virginia, a source confirmed to The Daily Nole.

The reason for his departure is unknown, but he had previously been with the team in Shreveport. The source did not say whether or not it was punishment related or personal/family business related. Florida State has not said anything publicly about any players missing bowl practice this year. It is also unknown whether or not he will return.

One possibility is that this is confirmation that Laborn will redshirt. Redshirted players have the option to return home once they are told they will not receive any time in the bowl game.

Laborn has had a quiet 2017. After coming to Tallahassee as a 5-star running back recruit, Laborn did not see the field this season. He was unlikely to make an impact in the Independence Bowl on Wednesday.
