The Daily Nole — Dec. 22, 2017: FSU Women Down Creighton, 92-82

It’s Friday, Florida State fans. As the weekend, the Christmas holidays and Independence Bowl approach, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Like the men earlier in the day, Florida State’s women’s basketball team got back in the win column on Thursday with a 92-82 win at Creighton.

FSU trailed 25-19 after a quarter and 51-49 at the break, but took control with a big third quarter before eventually running away with the contest. Nebraska native Chatrice White led six Seminoles in double-figures with 19 points and 11 rebounds. A.J. Alix finished with 17 points, six rebounds and six assists. Imani Wright scored 16 points while Ama Degbeon chipped in with 12. Nicki Ekhomu and Nausia Woolfolk both finished with 10 points.

Audrey Faber scored a game-high 30 points to lead Creighton while Olivia Elger added 20. Creighton shot 17-for-35 from behind the 3-point line while FSU shot 50 percent from the field.

FSU improved to 11-1 with the victory over the Blue Jays. Up next for the Seminoles will be the final game of the non-conference as they host Jacksonville on Dec. 28.

Between the Lines

In addition to the FSU women, the FSU men topped Southern Mississippi, 98-45 on Thursday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Friday.

4-star cornerback Asante Samuel, Jr. signed with FSU on Friday morning.

4-star cornerback Isaiah Bolden has committed to and will sign with Florida State.
