The Daily Nole — Aug. 25, 2017: Seven FSU Players on Senior Bowl Watch List

Lead Story

Seven Florida State football players were named to the Senior Bowl watch list on Thursday, according to a release, and all of them play on defense.

The seven to make the watch list include defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, linebackers Jacob Pugh, Matthew Thomas and Ro’Derrick Hoskins and safeties Nate Andrews, Trey Marshall and Ermon Lane. The only scholarship seniors for Florida State to not make the list were tackle Rick Leonard, wide receiver Malique Jackson, running back Ryan Green and long snapper Stephen Gabbard.

The Senior Bowl is a college all-star game that allows graduating seniors a chance to display their skills for NFL scouts. The 2018 Senior Day will be held in Birmingham at 2:30 p.m. EST on Jan. 27.

FSU soccer used three second half goals to beat Samford on Friday night, 4-2.

On the Agenda

FSU volleyball opens its 2017 campaign at Baylor at 8 p.m. EST. The match will air on Fox Sports Southwest.

News and Notes

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters on Thursday that linebacker Matthew Thomas should be back very soon and added that fellow linebacker Dontavious Jackson could be out “a while”.
