It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. As you watch your work week wind down, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Sporting News unveiled its preseason top 25 last week and the publication’s opinion of Florida State is high.

FSU was ranked No. 4 by the publication behind only Alabama, USC and Ohio State. ACC foe Clemson rounded out the top 5.

The Seminoles and Tigers were among five ACC schools ranked by the Sporting News. Louisville found itself at No. 12; Miami was 19th and Pittsburgh was No. 24.

In the publication’s bowl projections, FSU is headed back to the College Football Playoff. Again, it would be the Rose Bowl where Sporting News has the Seminoles taking on USC.

Florida State is one of four universities this year to have a player selected in the NFL, NBA, WNBA and Major League Baseball drafts.

FSU set a new school-record with 252 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll.

FSU’s athletic program suffered a loss of more than $1.8 million this academic year.
