The Daily Nole — June 4, 2017: FSU Looks to Prolong Baseball Season

For a second straight day, Florida State will look to prolong its baseball season and this time, it also looks for revenge. The Seminoles will face Tennessee Tech in a Tallahassee Regional elimination game.

FSU kept its season alive on Saturday, beating UCF behind a stellar pitching performance from Tyler Holton. Conversely, Tennessee Tech was pushed the brink of elimination after falling to Auburn, 5-3.

The Golden Eagles beat FSU to open the Tallahassee Regional on Friday night, 3-1. Ryan Flick delivered a 2-run double in the ninth to break a 1-1 tie in that contest.

FSU and Tennessee Tech will start at 1 p.m. EST. The winner will move on to face Auburn at 7 p.m. EST on Sunday night.

Between the Lines

Tyler Holton threw a complete game as FSU baseball defeated UCF, 6-1, to prolong its season on Saturday.

On the Agenda

FSU’s baseball contest with Tennessee Tech is the only scheduled athletic contest for Sunday. It begins at 1 p.m. EST and airs on ESPNU.

News and Notes

FSU’s win over UCF on Saturday gave the Seminoles 40 consecutive seasons with at least 40 wins. The second longest streak belongs to Louisville at six.

Cole Sands will pitch for FSU on Sunday while Evan Fraliex throws for Tennessee Tech.

FSU prolonged its season with a 5-3 win over Tennessee Tech in an elimination game on Sunday.

FSU baseball forced a decisive game for the Tallahassee Regional with a thrilling 8-7 victory over Auburn in 10 innings.
