Florida State’s women’s golf team had its best day of the NCAA Championships, but it was far from enough to put the Seminoles in contention for match play.

FSU’s season came to an end on Monday as it finished in a tie for 20th place at +80. The Seminoles finished the day in 19th place after both the first and third rounds. Saturday’s second round was canceled due to inclement weather.

The top finisher for Florida State during the NCAA Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in Illinois was Lydia Gumm. Gumm was tied for 57th at +17. Teammate Kim Metraux was one stroke worse at +18, finishing tied for 66th.

Though the Seminoles didn’t get to watch their season continue, eight other schools did. Northwestern took first place while Stanford, Arizona State, Ohio State, USC, Florida, Baylor and Kent State all advanced. The Golden Flashes held off North Carolina for the final spot, finishing one stroke better at +55. Not a single ACC school moved on.

Individually, Monica Vaughn of Arizona State was the top finisher at +1. She finished one stroke ahead of Duke’s Leona Maguire and Wake Forest’s Jennifer Kupcho, who each finished second at +2.
