Happy hump day, Florida State fans. For those of you returning to work, we’ll have the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Florida State fans are ecstatic to see Derwin James back on the field, but another safety will be absent for the first half of FSU’s 2017 season opener.

According to reports, head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed on Tuesday that Trey Marshall will miss the first half against Alabama on Sept. 2. Marshall was ejected for targeting late in the Seminoles’ 33-32 Orange Bowl win over Michigan to conclude last season.

With Marshall out, expect Ermon Lane, Nate Andrews and A.J. Westbrook to get extended action early on in the opener in Atlanta. Marshall finished with 58 total tackles, including two for loss last season.

4-star basketball guard M.J. Walker remains uncomitted as the signing period ends. Walker is considering FSU, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Virginia Tech and Ohio State.
