Florida State’s bullpen was unable to preserve the win for left-handed starter Tyler Holton on Saturday night in a 5-2 loss to North Carolina, but his stellar outing did not go unnoticed.

Holton has been named the ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week for working seven innings of no-hit baseball. In the seven shutout innings, Holton yielded just one walk while striking out eight.

FSU was one out away from a combined no-hitter, but unfortunately for Holton and the Seminoles, North Carolina scored two unearned runs in the ninth and three more in the 11th.

For Holton, the weekly honor from the conference is the third this season. Holton was also recognized on Feb. 27 and March 6. This week, he shares the honor with Wake Forest’s Connor Johnstone.

For the year, Holton is 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA. He leads the ACC with a .137 opposing batting average and ranks second in the conference with 58 strikeouts. He’ll likely get the ball on Saturday as FSU visits N.C. State.
