Florida State took the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday with an 11-1 victory over the Boston College Eagles. The Seminoles’ hot hitting stayed true in the second game as well, where they bested Boston College again 13-0.

First Game (1 p.m. EST)

The Good: Florida State brought the power at the plate in the first game. 12 hits, two home runs, and 10 RBIs kept the scoring consistent and made an insurmountable lead.

The Bad: Unlike the first game on Friday, Boston College pitching was unable to keep the FSU bats in check. The first three pitchers combined to allow 11 earned runs and only two strikeouts, while also allowing 11 hits.

The Ugly: No one got a good look at the Boston College lineup today. Largely because they always got retired so fast that not many conclusions can be drawn. 11 different players got at least one batting opportunity, yet the Eagles only combined for two hits total.

Studs of the Game: J.C. Flowers and Taylor Walls both sent home runs into left field. Walls’ was an absolute bomb that went clean over the scoreboard. Tyler Holton captured the free Moe’s queso with eight strikeouts of his own, while only allowing two hits in six innings.

Duds of the Game: Matt Gill pitched for the Eagles for one inning. In that inning, he gave up three hits, four earned runs, and struck out nobody.

Second Game (5 p.m. EST)

The Good: Florida State’s sixth inning was prolific. After holding Boston College scoreless again, the FSU batters got to work at the plate. Three hits, three walks, and six runs later, and the Seminoles were out ahead, 7-0.

The Bad: Boston College actually hit better than it did the first game (seven compared to only two). But the Eagles struggled to convert those hits into runs: they had 11 left on base, including seven in scoring position.

The Ugly: Pitching was unable to improve for the Eagles. Starter Dan Metzdorf went for 3.2 innings, but still gave up four hits and six earned runs. Of the four pitchers that came in after him, three of them gave up two earned runs.

Studs of the Game: Taylor Walls came back for more in the second game, notching three hits, three RBIs, and two runs. Drew Parrish got his second win of the season after pitching for six shutout innings and giving up six hits.

Duds of the Game: Dan Metzdorf and his inability to get off the mound killed any chance at a Boston College win early on. Johnny Adams had another dud at the plate for Boston College with four at-bats and no hits.
